Our Story

Music and More

Our mission is to bring people together through fun welcoming events for mature singles, in Sussex.

African Rhythm Twins

We are Alhassena and Alseny Camara, identical twin brothers, born in Dubreka, Guinea. We are the youngest of ten children. Sadly, two of our siblings have since passed away.

We lost our father when we were just seven years old. Our mother was left to raise us, after losing almost everything, including our family home. We will always be grateful to her for her courage and everything she sacrificed for us.

When we were seven, we had to leave mainstream school and go to a free, charity-run music school. Every morning we walked for around one hour each way, sometimes without breakfast and in our little jelly shoes. While we were at school, our mother worked on a farm to make sure there was food for us that evening.

Music was our hope.

We finished our music education at 15, gaining qualifications in percussion, performance arts, choreography and music teaching.

In 2011, we travelled to The Gambia to find work. We didn’t tell anyone. We packed our clothes and our drums and left. For three days we slept rough at a market, with no food or water.

But we had our drums, our determination and we had each other.

We started performing wherever we could — in bands, hotels and at weddings — and also volunteered and taught music in schools.

It has been a long journey, with very little financial reward, but we remain strong, resilient and happy brothers, and we will never stop believing in our music.

Today, we are The African Rhythm Twins. We want to share our music, our culture and our story with people around the world.

We don’t want people to feel sorry for us. We simply want the opportunity to show what we can do.

And through everything we have faced, we have always had each other. With love and light,
Sin & Sena ❤️
